Ep. 033 – Warhammer Fest 2023 Recap

In this episode we recap Warhammer Fest 2023 announcements including updates on Warhammer 40k, Horus Heresy, and Age of Sigmar.

Warhammer 40k

• 10th Edition Launch box revealed, that box is STACKED.
• Launch box is called “Leviathan” and features Space Marines vs Tyranids.
  • Almost all of the units in the box are new units to the game, all are at least new models.
  • Tyranids: (new unit) Tyranid Prime with Wings, (new unit) Von Ryan’s Leapers, (new unit) Psychophage, (new unit) Barbgaunts, (new unit) Neurogaunts, (new unit) Neurotyrant, (new model) Ripper Swarms, (new model) Screamer-Killer.
  • Space Marine: (new model) Captain in Terminator Armour, (new unit) Infernus Squad, (new model) Sternguard Veteran Squad, (new unit) Apothecary Biologis, (new unit) Ballistus Dreadnought.
  • Box also comes with Leviathan book, mission cards, and decals.
  • Leviathan book contains the following sections: the Warhammer Hobby, Dark Imperium background, the Forces of the 41st Millennium, the Core Rules, Combat Patrol rules, and Crusade Rules for the Tyrannic War https://www.warhammer-community.com/2023/04/29/what-else-is-in-leviathan-mission-cards-crusade-rules-and-a-big-ol-book/
• Core Rules section in the Leviathan book are numbered separately so that it matches the separately released rule book.
• Crusade Rules will also be released separately, as will all Crusade Rules going forward. No more Crusade Rules in codexes. (So… what ARE in codexes going forward?)
• Apart from 10th Edition Launch box, GW revealed new novel, index cards, and 10th edition roadmap.
• New novel called “Leviathan”. Follows the ultramarines through a major battle in the new Fourth Tyrannic War.
• New Index cards will be available for all armies at launch.
• 10th Edition roadmap contains information up through Spring 2024.
• As each new codex releases, GW will also release new models for that respective army.

Horus Heresy

• PLASTIC CERASTUS KNIGHT! Starting with the Cerastus Knight Lancer, we are starting to see the larger frame Knights in official plastic kits with rules for both HH and 40k.
• Lancer is currently $345 on Forge World, an educated guess would be $150-$175 in plastic.

Age of Sigmar

Old World

• It appears they are bringing back the Old World game. A subset of fantasy Warhammer that takes place prior to the Age of Sigmar reboot. Old World features original factions and square bases.
